All Points West Festival got a bit muddy on Saturday and Sunday. But that didn’t stop Coldplay from going on and rocking an incredibly long set with two encores. That’s right, I like Coldplay – a lot actually. But here is some footage of some unconventional (though given recent circumstances, apropos) covers. Probably would’ve been more impressive to see these in person, but hey. For what it’s worth YouTube gives us the heads up…

It’s been very interesting to watch the massive outpouring of tributes to the late Michael Jackson. MJ was my first musical hero. Thriller was my very first cassette tape and will always be the first musician to really inspire a passion for music that has not waned since the early 80′s back when I was still a little hulkster. From the impromptu dance party after a Phoenix show in Denver, to watching people break in to impromptu singalongs, it’s easy to remember just why there was always a huge hoopla around anything he ever did. It’s the music. In the end it’s always about the music. The press is doing what they do and are talking about the will, and all the money, and all the other extraneous things that really don’t mean a whole lot personally. What I’ll always take from the last few days is re-discovering an amazing talent and all the incredible music he left us. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone.

So the MJ thing has been at full tilt the last few days. Everywhere you go on the net is something or other on Michael Jackson. Maybe it’s just a video or an awesome still. I’ve actually stumbled across some pretty original stuff on the guy over the past few days. But this is something different. Thanks to Eternal Sunshine of the logical Mind, my friend Bob turned us on to this little video which gives us a glimpse at some of the inspiration of Michael’s awesome dance moves. So watch this. It is fine-tastic and works well in sync with what is obviously the sound of the crowd cheering to the dearly departed.

While I just sort of feel obligated, this is still pretty awesome from the King of Pop…
It’s the moment you all have been waiting for! Michael Jackson live and on tour! Ok, I’d actually rather see The Appleseed Cast at the night club up the street than pay 100 bucks to see an aging pop star (he’s fifty years old now!) do the moonwalk; but regardless, this is pretty big news.
The king of pop has announced that he will perform 10 concerts in London starting in July which he has described as his “final curtain call.”
“These will be my final shows performing in London. ‘This Is It’ really means this is it,” said Jackson, “I’ll be performing the songs my fans want to hear. I’ll see you in July and I love you so much.”
The shows will take place at London’s now famous, 20,000 seat ‘O2 Arena’ starting July 8. Tickets will cost between £50-75 ($70-105) and will go on sale on March 13.
