Nothing I can really add to this video other than technical garbage. You can find all of the details about this new device over at the official Google Blog. I guess all I have to say is, “it’s about time!”

I agree this has potential, but really, it’s going to come down to what agreements Google makes with the content providers. Like, is hulu going to be on it? Because hulu (assumedly at the behest of their content providers) has stringently resisted every attempt to make it easy to stream hulu content to televisions – Boxee has had a media player for a couple of years now that can be installed on AppleTVs and stream almost all internet content to your TV, but hulu has repeatedly blocked Boxee, even though Boxee is basically a media-centric browser.
Google can promise a great interface and their obviously great search capabilities, but if they don’t have all the content… The other thing is I don’t have room for another set-top box, and I certainly hope I don’t have to replace my TV anytime soon. If they could get their software as an add-on to something I already own, like game consoles, I’d be more excited. But like Microsoft is going to let Google install their browser on the 360. Still, I like the idea. I’m just waiting to see how well they’re able to implement it.
