It has been nearly three years since Norah Jones’s last album, Not Too Late, was released. Her unique jazzy pop sound has won her numerous awards since her 2002 debut album, including numerous Grammy’s, which is why many were curious when she spoke about her upcoming album The Fall and said it “has taken a new direction … [and she's] experimenting with different sounds and a new set of collaborators,” which included the likes of Ryan Adams and Okkervil River’s Will Sheff. Here is the first single off her album, which is delightfully catchy. I’m really looking forward to getting my hands on this album.

Really liked this. She’s branching out if the rest of the album sounds like this. Probably the logical move after the huge success of the first one.

Yeah this sounds really good. Her vocals seem essentially the same, it’s the backing music that is new and “bumping”.

NPR had a free stream of the new album, but it looks like it is gone now. The “morning edition” interview is still there though if you’re interested:

I listened to the album all through a couple of days ago, and really quite liked it. I’ve never been a huge Norah Jones fan – I mean, didn’t dislike her or anything, but just never sought out her music because it was a little too on the acousticy/folky/soft jazzy side for me. The Fall, though, does a really good job of keeping her very distinctive vocal style intact while adding a lot more interest (for me) in the melodies and arrangements. If you guys are already fans from the earlier album, you should pick the new one up.
