You coulda heard them at Lolla if you hadn’t gone galavanting off to museums. They played right before Neko on the next stage over. But I think you’re right – I love Lust Lust Lust, too (which is one of Amazon’s $5 MP3 albums this month, just fyi), but there’s more variety and more polish on In and Out of Control.

They have a great sound – it’s like some combo of 50′s sock hop music and 80s noise pop. Like the love children of Sonic Youth and, I dunno, Bobby Darin or something. I’m sure I’ve put “Dead Sound” on at least half a dozen mixes. At least until In and Out of Control came out; now I put “Last Dance” or “Suicide.”

Love this band since their Lust Lust Lust album came out in ’07. “Dead Sound,” “Lust,” and “The Best Dies” are particularly catchy. They almost sound like something from the 50s or 60s.
