If I haven’t posted music from Nicole Atkins around here before (I’m sure I have somewhere), I don’t know why I would wait so long to do so. Female artists have been a big part of my listening repertoire over the past year and one of the catalysts for that current love affair is certainly Nicole Atkins. With a sultry seductive voice and a music I can only describe as noir for some reason, she reminds me of a cross between Neko Case and Hope Sandoval had they been performing in the late 50′s. So yeah, good.

I can’t remember where I first discovered her music, but I know I listened to the hell out of her debut LP, Neptune City all last summer which was capped off by a fantastic performance at Lollapalooza ’08.

Since then I’ve been dying for more and it’s been difficult finding anything new – apparently she’s really been busy on the tour circuit. But lo and behold today while stumbling from site to site I found a mention of some video captured of her live performance at The Bell House in Brooklyn, NY from just a week or two ago. Giddy I jumped over, prepared to find some fan YouTube of some new music, but no. This is clearly professional shot video (video by Joe Jennings. Recording by Freddie Katz) and is being used as promotional stuff for what are clearly new songs for potentially a new album.
