Marina, really? Interesting. I liked both of the last two episode a lot. It’s finally starting to feel like a Joss show. But maybe that’s what’s turning people off, which is kinda sad. For me and you and other Whedonites, anyway.

Andrew, I think the turning point is the ep after the religious cult episode – that’s where the overall arc really kicks in.

Apparently the network will air all 13 episodes because the replacement show isn’t ready (and that’s a good thing) but I think the show alienated a whole lot of viewers with the last episode. It’s much more Joss style (funny and serious) but general twitter banter left me with the impression that a whole lot of folks went WTF with the episode. I loved it – so far, one of my faves. Stick with it Andrew – it’s definitely getting better.

This week, I’m hoping to put together a plea for folks to watch KINGS. Another awesome show which *is* on the brink of cancellation.

I’m not completely caught up (I’m on the “religious cult” episode), but the show is definitely getting better. Enough to keep it on my DVR anyway.

As for it being “Whedon-y”, I think it’s not at all Whedon-y except the one character of Topher (who interestingly reminds me a lot of Topher Grace). I will keep up with this and see where it goes. Likely will be cancelled anyway.

I enjoyed the show a lot, myself. It’s not typical Joss, though, at least not so far – at least not in the scripting. The interesting thing is I’ve seen negative reviews from both Whedonites (who think it’s not Whedon-y enough) and non-Whedonites (who think it’s too Whedon-y). I’m still holding out hope for the series, though. The network interfered a bunch in the first few shows, wanting standalone eps, for one thing. I trust Joss to make it come right, though. (And I did actually like the pilot for itself, too.)

Do you think the bad reviews for the pilot are partly the result of them flaunting expectations and not delivering the buffy/alias action type show everyone expected?
I had just assumed the show was going to be Eliza Dusku as Sexy Ninja Spy and was pretty impressed when it didn’t go that route.

I thought the episode did a good job of introducing and setting an interesting premise.

I finally got around to watching this last night and not impressed. If it wasn’t for the fact that I love Whedon, I wouldn’t tune in for another episode but I’m willing to give it a few weeks but if it doesn’t pick-up steam, this is going to die in the water. It definitely has potential but the Dushku puppy dog innocent eyes got old almost immediately. Disappointing start.

Ooo. That’s not sounding all that good. Still haven’t watched it – will try to get to it tonight. The premise sounds interesting enough – hope they manage to rescue it.

I didn’t think much of it. There is some potential for character development here – most notably with the side characters, but this felt really unbelievable and as much as I want to screw… er, I mean like Dushku, she didn’t do much for me here (other than visually stimulating). We’ll see how it goes next week, but so far I’m not impressed. I’ll give it two more episodes before I give up.

I went home Friday with every intention to watch the show and it just didn’t happen – too busy with other stuff. I’ve got my copy though – will be watching tonight and returning with some thoughts.
